Terms and Conditions – SL CAR RENT

Please read, understand, and accept these Terms and Conditions before making any reservations.

By ticking the checkbox before placing a booking, you confirm that you have read and agreed to all terms and conditions outlined below. Proceeding with a reservation means you are legally bound by them. Claims such as "I did not read the terms and conditions properly" or "I did not understand them" will not be accepted as valid excuses for non-compliance.

1. Pricing and Bargaining

No bargaining is allowed. All vehicle charges are fixed and standardized.

2. Refundable Security Deposit

The security deposit depends on the vehicle class:

  • Economy class: From $300 USD
  • Premium class: Up to $1,200 USD

This deposit is collected in cash at the time of vehicle handover and is refundable if there are no damages.

3. Vehicle Types and Booking

We list two types of vehicle images:

  • Real-time photos: The exact vehicle will be delivered.
  • Dummy photos (silver vehicles): Used for high-availability vehicles. You'll receive a vehicle of similar make/model depending on availability.
4. Driving License Requirements

You must hold a valid Sri Lankan driving license or International Driving Permit (IDP) recognized in Sri Lanka.

We can assist you in obtaining an IDP for an additional fee of $10 USD (service charge) + LKR 7,650 (processing charge).

5. Payment Information
  • If paying via credit/debit card, a 5% processing and tax fee applies.
  • To avoid this fee, you may request our bank account details for direct transfer or pay by cash.
  • Proof of payment (screenshot or bank slip) is mandatory for direct transfers.
  • We are not responsible for payments made to third parties or unverified accounts.
6. Handover & Agreement
  • A representative will meet you to hand over the car and collect the security deposit.
  • A formal rental agreement must be signed at this point. Refusal will result in booking cancellation without refund.
  • A full fuel tank will be provided; return with the same level (Full-to-Full Policy), or refueling charges will apply.
  • The vehicle must be returned clean, or a $10 USD service fee will be charged.
7. Accidents and Emergencies

In case of an incident, you must immediately contact us at:

  • +94 70 156 0536 (24/7 Emergency)

Do not contact police or insurance directly without our guidance.

Failure to follow this may result in insurance denial, making you liable for all damages.

8. Booking Modifications

Extending your booking must be informed at least 48 hours prior to the original return time.

Failure to do so may result in a 50% deduction from your deposit due to scheduling conflicts with other customers.

9. Usage Restrictions

You are strictly prohibited from:

  • Using the vehicle for illegal activities
  • Driving under the influence
  • Subleasing, selling, or modifying the vehicle
  • Transporting pets or hazardous materials
  • Driving in areas of civil unrest
10. Early Returns & Cancellations

No refunds will be provided for:

  • Early returns before the scheduled end date
  • Cancellation by the client
  • Failure to present valid documents
  • Failure to pass a driving test or being unfit to drive (e.g., intoxicated)
  • Refusal to sign the rental agreement or pay the deposit
11. Responsibility for Damages

You are liable for:

  • Any external or internal damage (including accessories)
  • Tyre damage, wrong fuel usage, and engine neglect
  • Parking fines, highway tolls, and traffic violations
  • Maintaining service condition if renting over one month (cost covered by us)
  • Photo/video evidence of the car condition must be sent via WhatsApp/Viber at handover time to avoid disputes
12. Refund Process
  • Refunds for valid cases will be processed by SL CAR RENT through Webxpay.
  • Refund time: 2 working days (delays possible due to bank holidays or gateway processing)
  • We (SL CAR RENT) are responsible for issuing the refund, not the payment gateway.
  • For faster refund of deposits, cash is preferred.
Legal Disclaimer:

The signed agreement at vehicle handover is legally binding between you and the vehicle owner. It includes a non-disclosure clause. You must read it carefully before signing.
